Beaches

Bathing weather prevails from late May until November.

The Mavrovouni beach

4+ kms with with fine copper

One of the most beautiful beaches of the region is about two kilometers south of Gythio town. Its length exceeds four kilometers with fine copper. At the beach you will also find the station of the "Archelon" Association for the protection of the sea turtle "Caretta - Caretta".

The Mavrovoni beach is only in the first two weeks of August really lively, when the most Greeks go for holidays filling the sunchair camps in droves.
Nevertheless, someone who wants to avoid the bustle can find enough free space for his own towel haven,

During low season is not very busy here.

Valtaki Beach

ruggedly romantic, with find sand

The Valtaki beach is located just 6 km east of Gythio and impresses mainly by its obvious shipwreck, which has been stuck here for almost 40 years. The beach is long, narrow and  not organized

Skoutari Beaches

in a wonderful bay

The bay of Skoutari lies about 15 km from the town of Gythio and provides three wonderful beaches separated by rocks.

The first of the three beaches on the left is called "Kalamia". It is the shallower and the sandier. The middle one is "Vorthona Beach", named after the ancient city of Vorthona which submerged during a nasty earthquake, just like Atlantis.
The third beach is pebbled and named "Agia Varvara" after the so called Byzantine chapel built there.  Attached to that beach is a small port ideal for fishing.
